Understanding the Working Time Directive Screen
The Working Time Directive is a collection of regulations concerning hours of work, designed to protect the health and safety of workers. The key points of the directive are:
- An employee must not work more than 48 hours a week on average over any 17 week period
- An employee must have an 11 hour break period between the end and start of a shift
- A minimum weekly rest period of 24 hours plus the 11 hours daily rest period in every seven-day period
- There are also settings for restricted hours for Under 18s that are displayed on this screen.
